Interim Measures

Before the full commencement of the UEMO, a number of Codes of Practices ("CoP") were established as interim measures to control the problem of unsolicited electronic messages. As the UEMO is in full force starting from 22 Dec 2007, the arrangements for these CoPs are:

  1. "The CoP on Handling Complaints about Inter-Operator Unsolicited Promotional Telephone Calls generated by Machines" was withdrawn by OFTA on 22 Dec 2007.

  2. "The CoP for Inter-operator Short Message Service" was removed from OFTA's website on 22 Dec 2007. It would be a decision for the signing operators to make as to the way forward for this industry CoP.

  3. "The CoP on the Procedures for Handling Complaints against Senders of Unsolicited Fax Advertisements" was withdrawn by OFTA on 18 Jan 2008.
